Pickle Sticks Recipe
1 gallon cucumbers
2 cup lime
Enough water to cover
3 tbsp. pickling spice
2 oz. alum
2 qts. white vinegar
14 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. celery seed
Slice cucumbers and remove seeds; add lime and
water. Let set 24 hours. Stir, then drain and add
alum and enough water to cover. Let set overnight.
Rinse and let sit in ice water 3 hours. Bring to a boil,
vinegar, sugar, salt, celery seeds, spices and cucumbers.
Boil 15 minutes. Let set overnight. Boil 15 more minutes.
Pack in hot jars and seal.
